Decarbonization of chemical industrial processes is a critical initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the industrial sector. Decarbonization strategies encompass a spectrum of approaches. As industries strive to the meet climate goals of the Paris agreement, decarbonization plays a pivotal role in achieving a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. In the case of the hard-to-abate industries where the production of the carbon dioxide is intrinsic in the production cycle, nanotechnology-based technologies and the use of nanoparticles for exhaust gas adsorption are gaining more and more importance in this field in the last period. The present work will critically examine some of the most promising nano-based technologies for the decarbonization of hard to abate sectors.
