"This volume of Chemical Engineering Transactions contains articles describing the latest research results in Process Integration for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction, developed and completed during the last year (2020-2021). The unifying goal of this collection of research articles has been to present method developments as well as practical case studies. The research efforts presented in the articles have been directed towards minimisation of resource and energy use, as well as toxic pollution and other footprints. The considerations concern processes and systems at many levels – starting from fundamental processes of heat and mass transfer, and ranging to unit operations, industrial sites, municipalities, regions and supply chains."
