This volume of Chemical Engineering Transactions puts together the latest research in Process Integration for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction, developed and completed during the last year (2020-2021). Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the research has been very intensive and the current volume contains a wide selection of research results. It starts with an overview of the area for the last 5 years and the research articles reflect key areas, such as energy integration, footprint reduction, urban and industrial symbiosis, fundamental process intenfification for heat and mass transfer, as well as equipment design. Broader topics, important for sustainable development and pollution reduction have been also investigated - including energy policy, ecological monitoring, digitisation of industrial and agricultural activities, footprint and sustainability accounting, food industry, waste management and valorisation.
